The National Realtors Association is very involved in an effort to protect the stability of the American housing market. Our position is that the mortgage interest deduction is vital not only to the stability of the housing market but to our overall economy. We will remain vigilant in opposing any future plan that modifies or excludes the deductibility of mortgage interest.
In our office we have written to our local elected officials concerning this critical and important issue. We have asked them to remain strongly opposed to any plan that modifies or excludes the deductibility of mortgage interest which could affect as many as 70 million American homeowners.
